Consigning Your Stamps

In order for us to serve our vast number of philatelic friends, we need a steady supply of nice United States stamps. Contact Us in order that we may have the opportunity to discuss consigning with you. You'll find that it is easy to turn those unwanted stamps into cash.

Basically we are looking for sound, fine or better pre-1940 U.S. stamps, the kind that you see in our price lists. We have no desire to handle damaged, regummed, or reperforated stamps, however we will accommodate your request with the understanding that although there are indeed collectors who seek this material, they sell for a small percentage of the Scott Catalogue value.

The seller should always set the retail price on any item(s) he has for sale, however we will be happy to assist you in establishing a fair selling price when called to the task. The retail price of any single stamp or set that you desire to consign should be at least $10.00. Our commission rate on the retail selling price is 20% on any stamp or set with a retail price of up to $1,000.00, or 10% on any stamp or set with a retail price of $1,000.00 or more.

We are well known in the trade for our integrity, results and prompt payments. We settle on the 15th of the month for the previous month's sales. This allows for anyone to avail themselves of our return privilege.

In fairness to both parties, we respectfully ask that the material be on consignment with us for a minimum of six months. This allows sufficient time for your stamps to be properly listed for sale in our price lists and website.

Each stamp or set should be neatly placed in #4 or #4-1/2 glassine envelopes with the Scott Catalogue number(s) in the upper left corner and the reserve (selling) price in the upper right corner. The condition (such as F-VF, NH, etc.) should be between those two corners. For example:

9 Used, F-VF, Light Town Cancel 85.00

A duplicate inventory list is required. We will make any suggestions, notations and the like on the list and return one copy to you. Of course, you have the option of accepting or rejecting our suggestions. If you choose the latter, your stamps will be returned at our expense.

It is suggested that you use registered mail and insure the contents for the full retail value less our commission. In addition, this amount should be entered at the bottom of your inventory lists in order that we will know just how much to insure your stamps for in the event that we have to return the package to you for any reason.

Any additional questions or concerns will be addressed when we discuss the consignment.

All material is fully insured for the total retail price, less our commission, while in our possession.
